Kate Monaco

As the lead vocalist Kate brings a rare blend of refinement and soul to every stage. Her family says she entered the world singing, much to her parents’ delight and her siblings’ annoyance. Kate was a true choir kid growing up and even competed in the prestigious All-State Honor Choir. A lifelong singer, Kate first pursued her passion in college as a vocal performance major before ultimately shifting her path to education. Classically trained with an expansive vocal range, she moves effortlessly across genres—from powerhouse rock to smooth dance grooves—delivering each song with both technical mastery and heartfelt emotion. Her versatility allows her to honor the original spirit of every cover while adding a signature warmth and depth that feels uniquely her own.
Offstage, Kate balances many roles with the same passion she brings to music. A teacher by day and a proud mother of three, she channels the energy of a full life into every performance. Her eclectic music taste fuels her ability to cross musical styles with ease, and in her free time she loves being active any way possible—whether it’s working out or attempting to golf. Polished yet deeply expressive, Kate connects instantly with audiences through dynamic performances and engaging energy that fills the room without overpowering it. Singing with Under the Covers feels like a full-circle moment—and a far cry from those early college band days. She considers it a true honor to share the stage with such talented musicians.
James Roberts
Bass/lead vocals
Born and raised in Chicago, James grew up surrounded by the grit of blues and the raw power of classic rock. Picking up the guitar at a young age, he quickly developed not only technical skill but a deep musical instinct shaped by groove, tone, and feel. While rooted in traditional blues foundations, James became fascinated with the intricate bass lines and expansive arrangements of progressive rock pioneers such as Yes and Rush. Those influences continue to shape his dynamic playing style, blending rhythmic precision with melodic depth. James began his professional career performing studio sessions and touring nationally with regional bands, gaining valuable experience on stage and in the studio. He later stepped away from music for nearly twenty years to get married, raise a family, and pursue a career in technology, which eventually brought him to California. Upon returning to the stage, he became a founding member of a cover band that earned recognition as KFOX’s“Last Band Standing”, helping establish a strong presence in the local music scene. Today, he proudly performs as a founding member of Under The Covers, delivering energetic pop and rock performances to audiences across the region.

Kevin Constantine

By day, Kevin Constantine is a mild-mannered tech professional navigating the world of strategy, meetings, and spreadsheets. But when the lights dim and the amps power up, he transforms into his alter ego—bringing guitar energy, tone, and decades of musical passion to the stage with Under The Covers.
Kevin has been playing guitar since he was a teenager, drawn to the artists and songs that make people crank up the volume and sing along. His influences span classic rock, 80s anthems, pop, grunge, and country, giving him the versatility to move from driving rhythm parts to soaring leads while keeping the spirit of the original songs alive.
When he’s not channeling his nighttime guitar powers, Kevin spends his time mountain biking, skiing, and enjoying life with his family who are constantly introducing him to new artists and songs. His son is a professional hip-hop musician and keeps Kevin connected to an entirely different side of the music world.
For Kevin, though, the real magic of Under The Covers isn’t about any one player—it’s about the band. Leadership is shared, perspectives are diverse, and the goal is always the same: create the best possible experience for the audience. That chemistry fuels every performance.
Because at the end of the day, Kevin and his bandmates are just music fans like everyone else—people who love great songs, great friends, and the moment when the whole room starts singing along.

Bobby Ray Haskell

Bobby Ray Haskell is a seasoned professional drummer with more than 35 years of live performance experience, bringing groove, power, and musical versatility to every stage. A longtime performer in cover bands and live music projects, Bobby has played across a wide range of genres including blues, rock, R&B, and pop, making him a dynamic and adaptable rhythm section player. Known for his strong timing and deep pocket, Bobby specializes in laying down a solid groove that locks tightly with the bass, creating the rhythmic foundation that defines a great live band. His playing blends the feel of classic rock & roll, the soul of R&B, and the energy of funk, while drawing inspiration from many musical styles developed over decades of performing.
Bobby performs on both acoustic and electronic drum kits, allowing him to adapt to venues of all sizes and musical settings. His preferred equipment includes DW Collector’s Series and Pearl Reference Series drum kits, as well as the Roland TD-30 electronic drum system. With decades of stage experience, a passion for live music, and a commitment to musical excellence, Bobby Ray Haskell remains a driving force behind every band he performs with.
Bobby Ray is an avid sports fisherman, aspiring chef, and loving grandpa. From tuna, to salmon, to rock cod, to halibut, to petrale sole, Bobby Ray fishes the California coast on his Grady White boat he lovingly and aptly calls “Rock Star”. No one in the band knows the current market price of fish as Bobby keeps us well stocked!
Angela Brooks

With over 3 decades of professional experience, Angela is a seasoned keyboard player known for powerful rock textures, dynamic stage presence, and versatile musicianship. A proud Puerto Rican and multi-generational musician, she began performing early in her career playing in her father’s Miami based blues/rock band. She trained in classical and jazz piano, playing in large philharmonic bands as well as chamber orchestras, and building a strong musical foundation that continues to shape her dynamic and sensitive playing style today. Throughout her career, Angela has performed with numerous cover and original bands and worked as a studio musician, contributing keyboards to a wide range of recordings and musical projects such as working with original song writers and composing and performing for documentaries. Known for her fun, sassy personality both on and off the stage, she delivers rich atmospheric layers, melodic leads, and driving keyboard parts that help recreate the depth and intensity of radio and Spotify favorites for a powerful and engaging live rock experience. Performing with Under the Covers for an audience is her Number 1 love.
Beyond music, Angela enjoys exploring hiking areas in California and travel with her family, and has a deep love for live theatre and visual arts, especially painting. She has also spent many years supporting arts education as an art docent and has served as a substitute teacher at her local high schools, sharing her passion for creativity, culture, and art in its many forms.
